Ashwagandha: This is classified as an adaptogen which helps the body cope with stress. Taking oral ashwagandha appears to help in the reduction of stress.  It may also reduce weight gain attributed to stress.  
Turmeric: Most research shows that oral curcumin, a constituent of turmeric, 1 gram daily improves symptoms of depression after 6 weeks when taken along with an antidepressant. However, it is unclear whether curcumin is beneficial when used for greater than 8 weeks. 
Fish Oil: There has been some observational research done on a higher nutritional intake of fish. The observation showed a decrease in the risk of depression and suicide in people. 
Vitamin B12: Numerous studies have been viewed and concluded that Vitamin B 12, when taken early enough can may delay the beginning of depression when taken with other medications.
